Chair McIff called the meeting to order at 8:12 a.m.
H.B. 102 Interpreter Services Amendments (Rep. R. Edwards)
Rep. Edwards explained the bill to the committee.
MOTION: Rep. Ward moved to replace H.B. 102 with 1st Substitute H.B. 102, Transliterator Services Amendments. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Spendlove absent for the vote.
Spoke to the bill: Angie Stallings, Utah State Office of Education
Spoke against the bill: Dale Boam, attorney associated with the deaf community
David Samuelson, deaf community, interpreted through Jeff Born
Pamela Mower, interpreted through Linsey Pickup
MOTION: Rep. Chavez-Houck moved to pass 1st Substitute H.B. 102 out favorably.
SUBSTITUTE
MOTION: Rep. Thurston moved to hold the bill. The motion passed, with Rep. Hollins and Rep. Chavez-Houck voting in opposition.
MOTION: Rep. Thurston moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
Chair McIff adjourned the meeting at 9:08 a.m.
