Chair Perry called the meeting to order at 4:23 p.m.

 

H.B. 314         Bedding, Upholstered Furniture, and Quilted Clothing Inspection Act Amendments (Rep. S. Handy)


Rep. Handy explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of LuAnn Adams, Commissioner, Department of Agriculture and Food.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Handy moved to amend the bill as follows:

 

1.    Page 6, Lines 167 through 174:      

 

167 4-10-14. Sterilization of filling material.

168 (1) A person shall sterilize all {  cotton,  } wool, {  kapok,  } feathers, down, shoddy, hair, or

169other material before the material is used as filling material in new bedding, upholstered

170furniture, or quilted clothing.

171 (2) The department shall, in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah

172Administrative Rulemaking Act, make rules governing the appropriate method by which a

173person may sterilize {  cotton,  } wool, {  kapok,  } feathers, down, shoddy, hair, or other material for use

174in filling material, as required by Subsection (1).

 

The motion to amend passed unanimously with Rep. Duckworth, Rep. Powell, and Rep. Schultz absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:     Rep. McKell moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Duckworth, Rep. Powell, and Rep. Schultz absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Briscoe moved to place H.B. 314 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Duckworth, Rep. Powell, and Rep. Schultz absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 219         Resource Management Planning (Rep. K. Stratton)

 

Rep. Stratten explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Redge Johnson, Consultant, Public Lands Policy Coordinating Office.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Noel moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed with Rep. Sagers voting in opposition and Rep. Brown, Rep. Duckworth, and Rep. Schultz absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 363         Grazing Zone Amendments (Rep. M. Noel)

 

Rep. Noel explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Noel moved to amend the bill as follows:

MOTION:     Rep. Owens moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
