Vice Chair Anderegg called the meeting to order at 3:54 p.m.

 

MOTION:       Rep. King moved to approve the minutes of the February 2, 2016, and February 3, 2016 meetings. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Cunningham, Rep. Draxler, and Rep. Moss absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 210           Media Production Vehicle Exemption (Rep. D. McCay)

 

Rep. McCay explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:       Rep. Westwood moved to pass H.B. 210 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Cunningham absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:       Rep. King moved to place H.B. 210 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Cunningham absent for the vote.

 

 

H.B. 143           Vehicle Safety Inspection Amendments (Rep. K. Powell)

 

Rep. Powell explained the bill to the committee and presented a power point discussion. He was assisted by Larry Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes provided a handout to the committee: "Primary reasons for the need to increase the fee for Utah Safety Inspections for (Heavy Trucks over 26,000 lbs. GVW) D.O.T."

MOTION:       Rep. Westwood moved to pass H.B. 143 out favorably. The motion passed with Rep. Anderegg voting in opposition.

 

H.B. 227           Electronic Driver License Amendments (Rep. C. Hall)

 

Rep. Hall explained the bill to the committee assisted by Chris Caras, Department of Public Safety, Drivers License Division.

 

MOTION:       Rep. Lifferth moved to pass H.B. 227 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:       Rep. Lifferth moved to place H.B. 227 on the Consent Calendar. The motion                           failed with Rep. Cunningham, Rep. Draxler, and Rep. Moss voting in opposition.

 

S.B. 35              Veteran License Plates Amendments (Sen. P. Knudson) (Rep. P. Ray)

 

Sen. Knudson explained the bill to the committee assisted by John Valentine, Chair Utah State Tax Commission.

 

Spoke for the bill:          Gary Harter, Utah Department of Veteran and Military Affairs

 

MOTION:       Rep. DiCaro moved to pass S.B. 35 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Lifferth absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:       Rep. Moss moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Lifferth absent for the vote.

 

Vice Chair Anderegg adjourned the meeting at 4:44 p.m.
