8     LONG TITLE
9     General Description:
10          This bill modifies provisions related to a child support guidelines advisory committee.
11     Highlighted Provisions:
12          This bill:
13          ▸     addresses the time when the governor shall appoint members to a child support
14     guidelines advisory committee; and
15          ▸     makes technical changes.

24     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
25          Section 1. Section 78B-12-401 is amended to read:
26          78B-12-401. Advisory committee -- Membership -- Expiration.
27          (1) (a) On or before May 1, [2012] 2018, and then on or before May 1 of every fourth
28     year subsequently, the governor shall appoint a child support guidelines advisory committee
29     consisting of:

30          [(a)] (i) one representative recommended by the Office of Recovery Services;
31          [(b)] (ii) one representative recommended by the Judicial Council;
32          [(c)] (iii) two representatives recommended by the Utah State Bar Association;
33          [(d)] (iv) two representatives of noncustodial parents;
34          [(e)] (v) two representatives of custodial parents;
35          [(f)] (vi) one representative with expertise in economics; and
36          [(g)] (vii) subject to Subsection (1)(b), two representatives from diverse interests
37     related to child support issues, as the governor may consider appropriate. [However, none]
38          (b) None of the individuals appointed under [this subsection] Subsection (1)(a)(vii)
39     may be members of the Utah State Bar Association.
40          (2) The term of the committee members expires one month after the report of the
41     committee is submitted to the Legislature under Section 78B-12-402.
42          (3) When a vacancy occurs in the membership for any reason, the replacement shall be
43     appointed for the unexpired term.
44          (4) The committee ceases to exist no later than November 1, 2017, and then on or
45     before November 1 of every fourth year subsequently.
