9     LONG TITLE
10     General Description:
11          This resolution of the Legislature encourages the Salt Lake City Department of Airports
12     to procure services that will substantially employ Utah workers for the Salt Lake City
13     International Airport Terminal Redevelopment Program.
14     Highlighted Provisions:
15          This resolution:
16          ▸     acknowledges the vital role Salt Lake City International Airport plays in Utah's
17     economy;
18          ▸     recognizes the positive economic effects of the Salt Lake City International Airport
19     Terminal Redevelopment Program; and
20          ▸     encourages the Salt Lake City Department of Airports to procure services from Utah
21     firms that will substantially employ Utah workers for the Terminal Redevelopment
22     Program.

24          None

26     Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
27          WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City International Airport is the primary point of entry and
28     departure for people and goods entering and exiting the state of Utah;
29          WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City International Airport is a vital connection between
30     Utah's workers and resources and the rest of the world;
31          WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City International Airport Terminal Redevelopment Program
32     will create jobs and be an economic engine for the state of Utah;
33          WHEREAS, the redevelopment of the terminals at Salt Lake City International Airport
34     has the potential to employ a substantial number of workers, both in the construction itself and
35     in the anticipated indirect economic development opportunities that may arise from the
36     redevelopment;
37          WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City International Airport Terminal Redevelopment Program
38     has the potential to use a substantial amount of local products and goods in the construction
39     efforts;
40          WHEREAS, Salt Lake City International Airport is governed by the Utah Procurement
41     Code and Salt Lake City procurement ordinances and practices;
42          WHEREAS, procurement processes that are fully transparent provide accountability for
43     the public good; and
44          WHEREAS, the ingenuity and hard work of the Utah workforce is to be commended
45     and should be further encouraged through increased employment opportunities:
46          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah
47     encourages Salt Lake City to procure services from Utah firms that will substantially employ
48     Utah workers for the Salt Lake City International Airport Terminal Redevelopment Program.
49          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah urges that Salt
50     Lake City purchase local products and goods for the Salt Lake City International Airport
51     Terminal Redevelopment Program.
52          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah urges that Salt
53     Lake City International Airport shall comply with the Utah procurement code and Salt Lake
54     City procurement ordinances and practices to ensure full transparency and accountability.
55          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the Board of
56     Directors of the Associated General Contractors of Utah, the Salt Lake City Mayor, the

57     Executive Director and Board of Directors of the Salt Lake City Department of Airports, and
58     the Salt Lake City Council.
