7     LONG TITLE
8     General Description:
9           This bill enacts provisions related to a public education database for teacher credentials.
10     Highlighted Provisions:
11          This bill:
12          ▸      defines terms; and
13          ▸     requires the State Board of Education to ensure that a public education database for
14     teacher credentials performs in a certain manner.

23     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24          Section 1. Section 53E-3-516 is enacted to read:
25          53E-3-516. Educator credential database.
26          (1) As used in this section:
27          (a) "Board" means the State Board of Education.

28          (b) "Educator" means the same as that term is defined in Section 53E-6-102.
29          (c) "Educator credential database" means a database used by the board that:
30          (i) contains educator credential information and LEA information; and
31          (ii) is used by the board to determine funding distribution.
32          (d) "Local education agency" or "LEA" means:
33          (i) a charter school;
34          (ii) a school district; or
35          (iii) the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.
