8 General Description:
9 This bill enacts provisions related to exit surveys for licensed public education
10 employees.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 ▸ defines terms;
14 ▸ requires the State Board of Education to make certain rules regarding exit surveys
15 for licensed public education employees; and
16 ▸ requires a local education agency to:
17 • create an exit survey in accordance with board rule;
18 • make certain effort to administer an exit survey under certain circumstances;
19 and
20 • report certain information from an administered exit survey to the State Board
21 of Education.

32 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
33 Section 1. Section 53G-11-301 is amended to read:
34 53G-11-301. Definitions.

36 As used in this part:
37 (1) "Educator" means the same as that term is defined in Section 53E-6-102.
38 (2) "Local education agency" or "LEA" means:
39 (a) a school district;
40 (b) a charter school; or
41 (c) the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.
42 Section 2. Section 53G-11-304 is enacted to read:
43 53G-11-304. Educator exit survey -- Rulemaking -- Local education agencies to
44 create and administer exit surveys -- Reporting.
45 (1) In accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, the
46 State Board of Education shall make rules that establish:
47 (a) minimum standards for an exit survey described in Subsection (2), including a
48 model exit survey; and
49 (b) LEA exit survey reporting requirements.
50 (2) An LEA shall, in accordance with State Board of Education rule:
51 (a) for an educator who is leaving employment at that LEA:
52 (i) create an exit survey; and
53 (ii) make the LEA's best effort to administer the exit survey to the educator before the
54 educator leaves employment at that LEA; and
55 (b) report the results of an administered exit survey to the State Board of Education.
