7     LONG TITLE

9          The Subcommittee on Oversight recommended this bill.
10     General Description:
11          This bill modifies provisions related to the duties of the Legislative Management
12     Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight.
13     Highlighted Provisions:
14          This bill:
15          ▸     provides that the Subcommittee on Oversight shall conduct a performance review of
16     the legislative general counsel alongside the legislative office directors; and
17          ▸     clarifies the yearly schedule for performance of the Subcommittee on Oversight's
18     duties.

27     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
28          Section 1. Section 36-12-8.1 is amended to read:
29          36-12-8.1. Legislative Management Committee -- Subcommittee on Oversight --
30     Members -- Duties -- Meetings.
31          (1) There is created within the Legislative Management Committee a Subcommittee on
32     Oversight comprised of the following members:
33          (a) from the Senate:
34          (i) the president;
35          (ii) the majority leader;
36          (iii) the minority leader; and
37          (iv) the minority whip;
38          (b) from the House of Representatives:
39          (i) the speaker;
40          (ii) the majority leader;
41          (iii) the minority leader; and
42          (iv) the minority whip.
43          (2) The Subcommittee on Oversight shall:
44          (a) review and approve the budget for the Office of Legislative Fiscal Analyst, the
45     Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, and the Office of Legislative Auditor
46     General; and
47          (b) provide an annual performance review for the legislative fiscal analyst, the director
48     of the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, the legislative general counsel, and
49     the legislative auditor general.
50          (3) (a) This subcommittee shall meet no later than:
51          (i) June 1st of each year to [conduct] receive and evaluate the results of the annual
52     performance [review] reviews; and [no later than]
53          (ii) November 1st of each year to review and approve the [budget of these offices]
54     budgets of the Office of the Legislative Fiscal Analyst, the Office of Legislative Research and
55     General Counsel, and the Office of the Legislative Auditor General.
56          (b) This subcommittee may meet at other times as often as necessary to perform its
57     duties.
