8 General Description:
9 This bill amends the Hospital Lien law regarding a release of lien.
10 Highlighted Provisions:
11 This bill:
12 ▸ requires a hospital to provide notice of a release of lien to the injured person; and
13 ▸ makes technical changes.

22 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
23 Section 1. Section 38-7-5 is amended to read:
24 38-7-5. Release of lien by hospital -- Execution and filing -- Notification to
25 injured patient.
26 The hospital shall, upon receipt of payment of the lien or the portion recoverable under
27 the lien[
28 (1) execute and file, at the expense of the hospital, a release of lien[
29 (2) mail, at the expense of the hospital, notice of the release of lien described in
30 Subsection (1) to the injured patient, the patient's heirs, or the patient's personal representative.
