7     LONG TITLE
8     General Description:
9          This bill prohibits local governments from prohibiting or removing political signs from
10     certain residential parking strips.
11     Highlighted Provisions:
12          This bill:
13          ▸     defines terms; and
14          ▸     prohibits local governments from prohibiting or removing political signs from
15     certain residential parking strips.

25     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:

26          Section 1. Section 10-9a-528 is enacted to read:
27          10-9a-528. Political signs.
28          (1) As used in this section:
29          (a) "Parking strip" means an area of property between a street and a sidewalk in a
30     residential zone.
31          (b) "Political sign" means the same as that term is defined in Section 20A-17-103.
32          (2) A municipality may not adopt or enforce an ordinance or other regulation that
33     prohibits the voluntary placement of or requires the removal of a political sign that is 24 inches
34     by 36 inches in size or less in a parking strip within an area zoned exclusively for residential
35     use if the property owner has title to the parking strip.
36          Section 2. Section 17-27a-525 is enacted to read:
37          17-27a-525. Political signs.
38          (1) As used in this section:
39          (a) "Parking strip" means an area of property between a street and a sidewalk in a
40     residential zone.
41          (b) "Political sign" means the same as that term is defined in Section 20A-17-103.
42          (2) A county may not adopt or enforce an ordinance or other regulation that prohibits
43     the voluntary placement of or requires the removal of a political sign that is 24 inches by 36
44     inches in size or less in a parking strip within an area zoned exclusively for residential use if
45     the property owner has title to the parking strip.
