9 General Description:
10 This concurrent resolution designates "Utah Education Support Professionals Day."
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This resolution:
13 ▸ recognizes the education support professionals who make a difference in the lives of
14 students both in and out of the classroom; and
15 ▸ designates the Wednesday during the week prior to the Thanksgiving holiday as
16 "Utah Education Support Professionals Day."

20 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
21 WHEREAS, education support professionals help in a variety of ways to create a
22 positive learning environment across our school facilities and functions through:
23 ▸ technical staff who enable students to use technology to develop critical skills
24 for future careers;
25 ▸ fostering a safe atmosphere during a bus ride to school;
26 ▸ a friendly hello from a custodian;
27 ▸ the care and compassion of a reading aide;
28 ▸ the smile from a lunch lady;
29 ▸ the intuitive instincts of a school secretary;
30 ▸ the encouragement from an art, computer, or physical education specialist; and
31 ▸ a warm and well lit facility that maintenance staff keep functioning;
32 WHEREAS, classified school employees play a vital role in providing for the welfare
33 and safety of students;
34 WHEREAS, classified school employees strive for excellence in all areas of service to
35 the education community;
36 WHEREAS, classified school employees provide essential services, such as
37 transportation, facilities maintenance and operations, food service, safety, technology, and
38 health care services; and
39 WHEREAS, exemplary classified school employees should be recognized for their
40 outstanding contributions to quality education in Utah:
41 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
42 Governor concurring therein, designates the Wednesday during the week that precedes the
43 Thanksgiving holiday of each year as "Utah Education Support Professionals Day."
44 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be provided to each of
45 Utah's school districts, charter schools, members of the Utah Parent Teacher Association, and
46 the Utah State Board of Education.
