7     LONG TITLE
8     General Description:
9          This bill amends provisions related to county classification.
10     Highlighted Provisions:
11          This bill:
12          ▸     modifies the population requirements for the classification of certain counties.

19          17-50-501, as last amended by Laws of Utah 2004, Chapter 269

21     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
22          Section 1. Section 17-50-501 is amended to read:
23          17-50-501. Classification of counties.
24          (1) Each county shall be classified according to its population.
25          (2) (a) A county with a population of [700,000] 1,000,000 or more is a county of the

26     first class.
27          (b) A county with a population of [125,000] 175,000 or more but less than [700,000]
28     1,000,000 is a county of the second class.
29          (c) A county with a population of [31,000] Ŝ→ [
45,000] 40,000 ←Ŝ or more but less than
29a     [125,000]
30     175,000 is a county of the third class.
31          (d) A county with a population of 11,000 or more but less than [31,000] Ŝ→ [

33          (e) A county with a population of 4,000 or more but less than 11,000 is a county of the
34     fifth class.
35          (f) A county with a population less than 4,000 is a county of the sixth class.
