9     LONG TITLE
10     General Description:
11          This bill addresses National Guard pay and allowances while on state active duty.
12     Highlighted Provisions:
13          This bill:
14          ▸     provides a minimum for pay and allowances for state activated National Guard
15     members.
16     Money Appropriated in this Bill:

24     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
25          Section 1. Section 39-1-51 is amended to read:
26          39-1-51. Pay and benefits of National Guard members.
27          (1) When called into the service of the state and not in the service of the United States,
28     the members of the National Guard shall:

29          (a) receive at least the same pay and allowance as members of the regular army or
30     regular air force of like rank and length of service;
31          (b) elect to:
32          (i) receive medical, dental, disability, or death benefits equal to those received by
33     full-time, permanent state employees; or
34          (ii) maintain any medical, dental, disability, or death benefits already in place; and
35          (c) receive one ration per day.
36          (2) The state may not make payments to members of the National Guard for service for
37     which the United States government makes payment.
