8 General Description:
9 This bill requires certain local education agency governing boards to establish written
10 policies regarding school bus inspections.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 ▸ requires certain local education agency (LEA) governing boards to establish a
14 written policy that:
15 • mandates that a school bus driver inspect the entire interior of a school bus at
16 the end of every route; and
17 • requires disciplinary action for failure to perform the inspection.

26 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
27 Section 1. Section 53G-7-220 is enacted to read:
28 53G-7-220. School bus inspection policy.
29 An LEA governing board that provides transportation shall establish a written policy
30 that:
31 (1) requires a school bus driver to inspect the entire length of the interior of a school
32 bus at the end of every route; and
33 (2) requires disciplinary action pursuant to LEA policies and practices for failure to
34 perform the inspection described in Subsection (1).
