8 General Description:
9 This bill amends provisions related to the display of the POW/MIA flag at the capitol
10 hill complex.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 ▸ provides an exception to the display of the POW/MIA flag at the capitol hill
14 complex.

23 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24 Section 1. Section 63G-1-703 is amended to read:
25 63G-1-703. Display of POW/MIA flag.
26 (1) In any place at the capitol hill complex, with the exception of the Utah Law
27 Enforcement Memorial, where the United States flag is displayed out of doors, the entity
28 responsible for the display of the United States flag shall display the POW/MIA flag, in the
29 manner described in Subsection (3), from sunrise to sunset on the following days:
30 (a) Armed Forces Day, the third Saturday in May;
31 (b) Memorial Day, the last Monday in May;
32 (c) Flag Day, June 14;
33 (d) Independence Day, July 4;
34 (e) Veterans Day, November 11; and
35 (f) National POW/MIA Recognition Day, the third Friday in September.
36 (2) The Department of Veterans and Military Affairs shall ensure that, in any place
37 where the United States flag is displayed out of doors at a cemetery that is operated by the
38 Department of Veterans and Military Affairs, the POW/MIA flag is displayed in the manner
39 described in Subsection (3).
40 (3) When displaying the POW/MIA flag under Subsection (1) or (2), the entity
41 responsible to display the flag shall fly or hang the POW/MIA flag as follows:
42 (a) if the United States flag and the POW/MIA flag are attached to the same flag pole,
43 by placing the POW/MIA flag directly under the United States flag; or
44 (b) if the United States flag and the POW/MIA flag are displayed near each other, but
45 not on the same flag pole, by placing the top of the POW/MIA flag below the top of the United
46 States flag.
