8     LONG TITLE
9     General Description:
10          This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor honors the life and
11     contributions of Allyson Gamble.
12     Highlighted Provisions:
13          This resolution:
14          ▸     recognizes the life and public service of Allyson Gamble; and
15          ▸     expresses appreciation for Allyson Gamble's many contributions to the state of Utah
16     and deep sympathy at her passing.
17     Special Clauses:
18          None
19     

20     Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
21          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble, an extraordinary wife, mother, friend, and director,
22     passed away on December 4, 2020;
23          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble was a member of the Capitol Preservation Board for 19
24     years and served as the executive director of the board for 11 of those years;
25          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble was devoted to enhancing the Capitol and devoted her
26     life to making sure it was truly The People's House;
27          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble was known by many as the heart and soul of the Capitol;
28          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble created a docent program to educate visitors of all ages
29     and backgrounds regarding the building's history and meaning;

30          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble helped in the creation of several history installations,
31     rotating art exhibits, and movies on the front lawn to encourage people to visit the Capitol and
32     share in the beauty of the building, the grounds, and its symbolism;
33          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble had a deep passion for the historic building and those
34     who occupied it;
35          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble was the orchestrator and planner of hundreds of events at
36     the Utah State Capitol that celebrated Utah's history, art, people, and accessible government;
37          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble never missed a detail in putting events together whether
38     for Utah's political leaders or Utah's school children;
39          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble aimed to make sure all who entered the Capitol felt
40     respected, heard, accommodated, special, and inspired;
41          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble worked tirelessly to protect and preserve the Utah State
42     Capitol despite numerous health challenges;
43          WHEREAS, in May of 2020, after a recent release from the hospital and with a
44     weakened immune system, Allyson Gamble insisted on supporting the clean-up efforts after
45     protestors defaced the Capitol grounds;
46          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble, while short in stature was mighty in spirit;
47          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble was an active participant and organizer for the Utah
48     Heart Association;
49          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble had two heart transplants in her life and knew that the
50     extra time she was given was because another family had experienced grief and sorrow and so
51     she embraced the gift she was given;
52          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble repaid the gift others had given her by being an organ
53     donor herself;
54          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble was the best type of friend to have, the kind that kept
55     your confidences, celebrated your victories, and always made time to meet;
56          WHEREAS, in addition to being a tireless worker and selfless friend to many, Allyson
57     Gamble was a loving wife to her husband, Jim, through their 21 years of marriage;

58          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble was also a devoted mother who was exceedingly proud of
59     her son, Ben, and his many accomplishments;
60          WHEREAS, Allyson Gamble valued her family deeply:
61          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
62     Governor concurring therein, honors the life of Allyson Gamble, recognizes her many years of
63     dedicated public service, and expresses great appreciation for her many contributions to the
64     state of Utah.
65          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to her husband,
66     Jim, and her son, Ben.
