7     LONG TITLE
8     General Description:
9          This bill requires local school boards and charter school governing boards to provide
10     period products in certain restrooms within all school facilities.
11     Highlighted Provisions:

28     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
29          Section 1. Section 53G-4-412 is enacted to read:
30          53G-4-412. Required provision of period products in schools.
31          (1) As used in this section, "period products" means:
32          (a) tampons;
33          (b) sanitary napkins; or
34          (c) other similar products designed for hygiene in connection with the human
35     menstrual cycle.
36          (2) Beginning July 1, 2022, an LEA shall:
37          (a) provide period products free of charge to students in each female or unisex
38     restroom within an elementary, middle, junior, or high school or school facility which students
39     use; and
40          (b) inform public school students of the availability of the period products as described
41     in this section.
42          (3) To address the cost of the requirements of this section, an LEA shall:
43          (a) use funds that the Legislature appropriates specifically for the provision of period
44     products; and
45          (b) incorporate the provision of period products into local ongoing capital operations
46     and maintenance budgets no later than July 1, 2025.
46a      Ŝ→ (4) The state board shall:
46b     (a) oversee the implementation of the requirements of this section; and
46c     (b) monitor compliance with this section. ←Ŝ
47          Section 2. Section 53G-5-414 is enacted to read:
48          53G-5-414. Required provision of period products in schools.
49          (1) As used in this section, "period products" means:
50          (a) tampons;
51          (b) sanitary napkins; or
52          (c) other similar products designed for hygiene in connection with the human
53     menstrual cycle.
54          (2) Beginning July 1, 2022, a charter school shall:
55          (a) provide period products free of charge to students in each female or unisex
56     restroom within an elementary, middle, junior, or high school or school facility which students
57     use; and
58          (b) inform public school students of the availability of the period products as described
59     in this section.
60          (3) To address the cost of the requirements of this section, a charter school shall:
61          (a) use funds that the Legislature appropriates specifically for the provision of period
62     products; and
63          (b) incorporate the provision of period products into local ongoing capital operations
64     and maintenance budgets no later than July 1, 2025.
