20     LONG TITLE
21     General Description:
22          This bill requires local school boards and charter school governing boards to provide
23     period products in certain restrooms within all school facilities.
24     Highlighted Provisions:
25          This bill:
26          ▸     defines terms;
27          ▸     requires local school boards and charter school governing boards to:

28               •     provide period products in certain restrooms within all school facilities;
29               •     provide certain information to students; and
30               •     incorporate the provision of period products in ongoing capital operations and
31     maintenance budgets by a certain date; and
32          ▸     requires the State Board of Education to monitor compliance.

42     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
43          Section 1. Section 53G-4-412 is enacted to read:
44          53G-4-412. Required provision of period products in schools.
45          (1) As used in this section, "period products" means:
46          (a) tampons;
47          (b) sanitary napkins; or
48          (c) other similar products designed for hygiene in connection with the human
49     menstrual cycle.
50          (2) Beginning July 1, 2022, an LEA shall:
51          (a) provide period products free of charge to students in each female or unisex
52     restroom within an elementary, middle, junior, or high school or school facility which students
53     use; and
54          (b) inform public school students of the availability of the period products as described
55     in this section.

56          (3) To address the cost of the requirements of this section, an LEA shall:
57          (a) use funds that the Legislature appropriates specifically for the provision of period
58     products; and
59          (b) incorporate the provision of period products into local ongoing capital operations
60     and maintenance budgets no later than July 1, 2025.
61          (4) The state board shall:
62          (a) oversee the implementation of the requirements of this section; and
63          (b) monitor compliance with this section.
64          Section 2. Section 53G-5-414 is enacted to read:
65          53G-5-414. Required provision of period products in schools.
66          (1) As used in this section, "period products" means:
