8     LONG TITLE
9     General Description:
10          This bill addresses Medicaid coverage for pregnant and postpartum women.
11     Highlighted Provisions:
12          This bill:
13          ▸     defines terms; and
14          ▸     requires the Division of Medicaid and Health Financing to request from CMS a
15     Medicaid waiver or state plan amendment, or both, to:
16               •     expand eligibility for the Medicaid program to certain pregnant women; and
17               •     extend the duration of postpartum coverage.

26     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
27          Section 1. Section 26-18-427 is enacted to read:

28          26-18-427. Medicaid waiver for certain pregnant and certain postpartum women.
29          (1) As used in this section:
30          (a) "Initial postpartum period" means the period:
31          (i) beginning on the day on which a woman's pregnancy ends; and
32          (ii) ending on the last day of the month that is 60 days after the day described in
33     Subsection (1)(a)(i).
34          (b) "Extended postpartum period" means the period after a woman's pregnancy:
35          (i) beginning the day after the initial postpartum period; and
36          (ii) ending on the last day of the month that is 12 months after the day described in
37     Subsection (1)(a)(i).
38          (2) Before July 1, 2022, the division shall request from CMS a Medicaid waiver or
39     state plan amendment, or both, to:
40          (a) provide Medicaid coverage to pregnant women with a household income less than
41     or equal to 200% of the federal poverty level; and
42          (b) provide Medicaid coverage to women during their extended postpartum period who
43     have a household income less than or equal to 200% of the federal poverty level.
