8     LONG TITLE
9     General Description:
10          This bill requires the State Board of Education to provide funding for paid preparation
11     days for teachers to improve curriculum and classroom transparency.
12     Highlighted Provisions:

15     paid preparation days for teachers to improve curriculum and classroom

25     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
26          Section 1. Section 53F-7-202 is enacted to read:
27          53F-7-202. Additional days for curriculum and classroom transparency.

28          (1) Subject to legislative appropriations, the state board shall provide funding to each
29     LEA in accordance with this section to provide additional paid teacher preparation days for a
30     teacher to improve curriculum and classroom transparency, including providing more
31     information regarding classroom resources and materials through the school's learning
32     management system, as that term is defined in Section 53G-6-804.
33          (2) The state board shall distribute funding under this section to each LEA in
34     proportion to the number of classroom teachers within the LEA:
35          (a) 10 paid preparation days for each classroom teacher in the teacher's first three years
36     of teaching;
37          (b) 10 paid preparation days for each middle, junior, or high school classroom teacher
38     in the first year in which the teacher teaches a new subject; and
39          (c) five paid preparation days for each classroom teacher that does not fall under
40     Subsection (2)(a) or (b).
41          (3) The state board may not require a report or accounting of activities performed
42     during the paid days provided under this section.
