9 General Description:
10 This concurrent resolution creates the Bridal Veil Falls State Monument.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This resolution:
13 ▸ describes the general process for proposing the creation of the Bridal Veil Falls
14 State Monument;
15 ▸ describes reasons for creating the Bridal Veil Falls State Monument; and
16 ▸ approves the creation of the Bridal Veil Falls State Monument.

20 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
21 WHEREAS, Utah Code Title 79, Chapter 4, Part 12, State Monuments Act, provides a
22 process for the creation of a state monument when a county determines that a state monument
23 designation within the county's jurisdictional boundaries is appropriate;
24 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Utah County has determined, by
25 Resolution 2022-88, that it is in the best interest of Utah County to preserve and maintain the
26 Bridal Veil Falls area as a state monument;
27 WHEREAS, by Resolution 2022-88, the Board of County Commissioners of Utah
28 County has consented and expressed support for the designation of the Bridal Veil Falls area as
29 a state monument;
30 WHEREAS, the five parcels of real property to be designated as a state monument in
31 the Bridal Veil Falls area are owned by Utah County;
32 WHEREAS, the Bridal Veil Falls area has important recreational, cultural, historic,
33 scenic, and aesthetic significance;
34 WHEREAS, the Bridal Veil Falls area is one of Utah's most spectacular and beautiful
35 natural waterfalls, conveniently located in Provo Canyon and easily accessible from both the
36 Wasatch Front and Heber Valley;
37 WHEREAS, thousands of visitors enjoy sightseeing and recreating at the Bridal Veil
38 Falls area each year;
39 WHEREAS, the Legislature appropriated $1.2 million in 2021 for a feasibility study
40 and improvements to the Bridal Veil Falls area;
41 WHEREAS, Utah County will match, dollar for dollar, any money the state spends to
42 improve the Bridal Veil Falls area;
43 WHEREAS, Utah County has set aside nearly $1.5 million to improve the trails and
44 safety at the Bridal Veil Falls area; and
45 WHEREAS, the Division of State Parks has completed a feasibility study and economic
46 analysis in coordination with Utah County to determine the costs associated with improving the
47 visitor experience and resolving safety concerns at the Bridal Veil Falls area:
48 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the State of Utah, the
49 Governor concurring therein, approves the creation of the Bridal Veil Falls State Monument
50 comprising five parcels of real property in Provo Canyon, Utah County, which parcels are
51 owned by Utah County and are more specifically described by a map and legal description on
52 file with the Division of State Parks.
53 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Bridal Veil Falls State Monument is to be
54 managed by Utah County, pursuant to an agreement with the Division of State Parks and the
55 provisions of Utah Code Title 79, Chapter 4, Part 12, State Monuments Act.
56 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be delivered to Utah
57 County and the Division of State Parks.
