9 General Description:
10 This joint resolution honors the state of Utah's Hispanic community.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This resolution:
13 ▸ recognizes the contributions of Utah's Hispanic community to the prosperity of the
14 state; and
15 ▸ expresses support for strengthening and ensuring a bright future for Utah's Hispanic
16 community.

20 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
21 WHEREAS, the Hispanic community has a deep-rooted history in the state, beginning
22 centuries ago when Utah was a territory of New Spain;
23 WHEREAS, with 14.8% of Utah's citizens identifying as being of Hispanic or Latino
24 descent, Utah's Hispanic community represents an integral part of the cultural fabric of the
25 state;
26 WHEREAS, Utah's Hispanic community is projected to grow an astonishing 39%
27 within the next seven years;
28 WHEREAS, Utah's Hispanic community has origins in 33 different countries across
29 Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, representing a compilation of cultures,
30 languages, and ideologies;
31 WHEREAS, Utah's Hispanic community provides significant contributions to Utah's
32 economy by fostering innovation and forming, growing, and improving businesses;
33 WHEREAS, members of Utah's Hispanic community serve in positions of leadership
34 across state government and have made notable contributions to the state's progress; and
35 WHEREAS, faith-based assemblies in Utah are strengthened and uplifted by the
36 contributions and leadership that Utah's Hispanic community provides:
37 WHEREAS, Utah's Hispanic community demonstrates longstanding support for
38 multigenerational family relationships and a commitment to community:
39 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah
40 recognizes the past, present, and forthcoming contributions of Utah's Hispanic community to
41 the culture and prosperity of Utah, the preservation of faith, the commitment to families, and
42 the furtherance of life-long friendships.
43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature appreciates the role of Utah's
44 Hispanic community in the history and development of the state of Utah.
45 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature is committed to advancing policies
46 that strengthen and ensure a bright future for Utah's Hispanic community.
