8 General Description:
9 This resolution modifies joint legislative rules related to convening the Legislature into
10 session.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This resolution:
13 ▸ allows a legislator to request the results of a poll that the president and speaker
14 conduct in their respective chambers to determine the number of legislators in favor
15 of the president and speaker convening a special session under Utah Constitution,
16 Article VI, Section 2.

23 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24 Section 1. JR2-1-201 is enacted to read:
25 JR2-1-201. Poll for the president and speaker to convene a special session.
26 (1) The president of the Senate and the speaker of the House of Representatives
27 may convene the Legislature into session as provided in Utah Constitution,
28 Article VI, Section 2.
29 (2) After the president and speaker complete a poll required under Utah Constitution,
30 Article VI, Section 2:
31 (a) a senator may request from the president or a representative may request
32 from the speaker the results of the poll for the chamber of which the
33 legislator is a member; and
34 (b) the president or speaker shall provide to the senator or representative
35 the requested results listed by legislator.
36 Section 2. Effective date.
37 This resolution takes effect upon a successful vote for final passage.
