9 General Description:
10 This resolution acknowledges the contributions of school support staff and commits to
11 celebrating their work.
12 Highlighted Provisions:
13 This resolution:
14 ▸ recognizes the contributions of school support staff;
15 ▸ highlights the many roles of school support staff;
16 ▸ emphasizes school support staff's impact on student achievement and school
17 culture; and
18 ▸ encourages LEAs to celebrate and honor school support staff.

22 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
23 WHEREAS, the school support staff play a vital role in the education ecosystem,
24 contributing significantly to the success and well-being of students, teachers, and the overall
25 school community;
26 WHEREAS, the dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment of school support
27 staff contribute to the smooth operation and effective functioning of schools;
28 WHEREAS, these invaluable individuals work tirelessly behind the scenes, often in
29 challenging and multifaceted roles, to ensure a safe, nurturing, and conducive environment for
30 teaching, learning, and growth;
31 WHEREAS, the wide range of school support staff includes but is not limited to
32 administrative assistants, custodial staff, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, teacher aides,
33 technology specialists, librarians, and maintenance personnel, each playing a crucial part in the
34 educational journey;
35 WHEREAS, the efforts of school support staff often extend beyond their official
36 responsibilities, as they provide emotional support, mentorship, and guidance to students,
37 creating a sense of belonging and fostering positive educational experiences; and
38 WHEREAS, their dedication and commitment to their roles contribute significantly to
39 enhancing student achievement, school culture, and the overall educational experience:
40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah and
41 the Governor concurring therein:
42 (1) acknowledge and recognize the immense contributions of school support staff
43 members and express gratitude for the dedication, professionalism, and tireless efforts of the
44 school support staff in enriching the lives of students and ensuring the smooth functioning of
45 our educational community;
46 (2) encourage each school community to join in recognizing and appreciating the
47 invaluable contributions of school support staff members;
48 (3) encourage each LEA to celebrate and honor school support staff members through
49 various means, such as special events, awards, certificates of appreciation, and public
50 recognition to highlight their significant role in the success of our educational institutions; and
51 (4) request each LEA share this resolution with all staff members, students, parents, and
52 the broader community to raise awareness about the vital contributions of school support staff
53 and foster a culture of appreciation.
