      <hl numlevel="1" lineno="9" slineno="0-9" level="1">recognizes the 125th anniversary of the Division of Arts and Museums;</hl>
      <hl numlevel="1" lineno="10" slineno="0-10" level="1">recognizes the cultural and economic impact of the Division of Arts and Museums; and</hl>
      <hl numlevel="1" lineno="11" slineno="0-11" level="1">declares February 2024 as "Utah Division of Arts and Museums Month" in Utah.</hl>

      <section type="enact" display="false" src="reso">WHEREAS, the Utah Division of Arts and Museums was founded in 1899 by Utah State  
        <sectionText>
          <ln lineno="17"/>Representative Alice Merrill Horne;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="18" slineno="1-3" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, the Utah Division of Arts and Museums is the longest-running state arts  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="19" slineno="1-4"/>agency in the nation;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="20" slineno="1-5" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, arts and museums inspire and connect people and communities across the  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="21" slineno="1-6"/>great state of Utah, encouraging a vibrant and culturally engaged state;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="22" slineno="1-7" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, participation in arts, museums, and other cultural activities foster skills  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="23" slineno="1-8"/>necessary for solving 21st-century challenges, including creative problem-solving, cultural  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="24" slineno="1-9"/>awareness, and communication skills;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="25" slineno="1-10" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, Utah's cultural industry output contributes $14.7 billion annually to the state's  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="26" slineno="1-11"/>economy, and is ranked third in the nation for total art and cultural value added to state  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="27" slineno="1-12"/>economies;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="28" slineno="1-13" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, Utah is ranked first in the nation for art creation, and third in the nation for  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="29" slineno="1-14"/>cultural participation among adults;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="30" slineno="1-15" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, arts and culture drives commerce to local businesses;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="31" slineno="1-16" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, on average, attendees to cultural events in Utah spend nearly $40 per person,  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="32" slineno="1-17"/>per event, not including the cost of admission;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="33" slineno="1-18" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, the money spent at cultural events represents vital income for local merchants  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="34" slineno="1-19"/>and a value-add with which few industries can compete;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="35" slineno="1-20" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, a vibrant arts and culture community keeps local residents  and their  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="36" slineno="1-21"/>discretionary dollars in the community;
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="37" slineno="1-22" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, arts and museums enhance and enrich the lives of all Utah residents; and
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="38" slineno="1-23" display="tab">
          <para/>WHEREAS, the Utah Division of Arts and Museums has served to support and help build  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="39" slineno="1-24"/>the creative infrastructure that has served all the residents of Utah since 1899:
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="40" slineno="1-25" display="tab">
          <para/>NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah declares  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="41" slineno="1-26"/>February 2024 "Utah Division of Arts and Museums Month" in Utah.
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="42" slineno="1-27" display="tab">
          <para/>BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature urges all Utahns to connect and engage  
          <ln numlevel="1" lineno="43" slineno="1-28"/>with the arts and museums in their communities.
