FY 2016 Appropriation

According to statute, this fund provides money to the Department of Public Safety "to supplement appropriations by the Legislature so that the Department of Public Safety maintains a sufficient number of alcohol-related law enforcement officers" for the enforcement of the state's liquor laws.

Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $3,924,200 from all sources for Alcoholic Beverage Control Act Enforcement Fund. This is a 9.1 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources.

UCA 32B-2-305 creates and determines how the fund functions.

In the 2012 General Session, the Legislature converted the funding alcohol law enforcment from General Fund to an expendable special revenue account. Included in this conversion was a 1% amount of gross alcohol sales that would be used to fund the enforcement program.
