HB0291 - Distribution of Tobacco Settlement Funds

State Impact:
This bill appropriates $3 million from the General Fund. Of this $3 million, $2 million replaces current General Fund Restricted-Tobacco Settlement monies, the other $1 million increases anti-tobacco funding to the Department of Health. The $2 million of Tobacco Settlement funds are appropriated to the Department of Health for anti-tobacco programs. The bill also requires that the available interest earnings from the permanent state trust fund be appropriated to the Department of Health. These earnings are estimated at $429,800 in FY 2002 and $617,800 in FY 2003.

Individual and Business Impact:
Those entities which receive grant funds from these additional funds would benefit from additional business.
