SB0061 - Enhancements to the State Systems of Public and Higher Education

State Impact:
This bill appropriates to the State Office of Education $2,400,000, ongoing and a $16,600,000 one time supplemental appropriation from the Uniform School Fund to help fund the Public Education Job Enhancement Program. The bill also appropriates to the State Board of Regents the following amounts: $5,000,000 from income tax revenues to fund the faculty incentive program pursuant to the bill, $550,000 from income tax revenues for new engineering and computer science programs, $4,200,000 one time appropriation from income tax revenues for equipment to fund the new programs, $800,000 one time from income tax revenues to begin the student loan program as described in the bill.

There may be secondary benefits to business through equipment purchases.
