HB0218 - Schools for the Deaf and Blind Salary Adjustment
State Impact:
Provisions of this bill provide for statutory codification of historic practice. Statute provides that teachers at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind receive annual salary adjustments based on the actual salary increase received by teachers in the school districts the preceding year. Historically, the Legislature has funded step and lane increases along with the base salary adjustment.
Step and lane increases in FY 2007 for teachers at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind are estimated at $191,600. The cost of step and lane increases change yearly because of retirements, employees gaining additional education, and employees reaching 14 years of service.
