State Impact:
Enactment of this bill appropriates $32,000,000 one-time from the Uniform School Fund to the State Board of Education to provide incentives to local school districts to convert to an extended year calendar.

Individual, Business and/or Local Impact:
The state grants provide offsets to selected school district for one-time costs associated with converting to an extended school year. School districts opting to convert to an extended year schedule may see increased ongoing costs associated with increased employee compensation, particularly retirement and social security. School teachers in the converting school districts may benefit through increased compensation.
