SB0050 - Motor Vehicle Impoundment Amendments

State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
Enactment of this bill likely will not require additional appropriations. The state collects a $330 fee for each vehicle impounded, distributed as follows: $29 to the Motor Vehicle Division; $97 to the Transportation Fund Restricted - Department of Public Safety Restricted Account; and $204 to the General Fund. It is unknown how many vehicles will be impounded as a result of this bill.

Local Governments (UCA 36-12-13(2)(c)):
Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable costs for local governments.

Direct Expenditures by Utah Residents and Businesses (UCA 36-12-13(2)(d)):
Tow companies will benefit from the impound fees; offenders will be impacted by the impound fee. It is not known how many vehicles will be impounded.
