FY 1997 Appropriations Report Executive Offices
The total budget
for the Executive Offices of the State for FY 1997 is $44,406,300. This
represents a 4 percent increase over the FY 1996 budget.

Governor
- The FY 1997 budget for the Governor's Office is $3,185,700.
- Included in the Governor's budget is an appropriation of $221,800 to fund the costs associated with the election in FY 1997.
- The Elections Office under the Governor's budget was appropriated an additional $73,600 to fund the costs of putting Senate Joint Resolution 6, Senate Joint Resolution 8, Senate Joint Resolution 17, and House Joint Resolution 8 on the November ballot. The Elections Office was appropriated an additional $10,000 to implement the provision of Senate Bill 155 - "Judicial Retention Elections." The appropriation covers the cost of publishing the voter information pamphlet.
- The FY 1997 budget for the Governor's Commission on Women and Families is $83,600.
- The FY 1997 budget for the Office of Planning and Budget is $4,214,800.
- The Office of Planning and Budget was appropriated $247,000 to implement the provisions of the workforce development bill. An additional $5,500 was appropriated to fund the provisions of Substitute House Bill 330 - "Oversight of Federal Mandates."
- The Office of Planning and Budget was appropriated $250,000 for local planning grants.
- The FY 1997 budget for the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice is $8,837,500.
- The Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice was appropriated $70,000 in FY 1997 to implement the provisions of House Bill 429. The funds are to be used along with matching funds from Davis County to develop a pilot "Serious Habitual Offender Comprehensive Action Plan."
- The Judicial Conduct Commission was appropriated $140,800 in order to fully staff the office and meet the demands of the Commission. The total budget appropriated for FY 1997 is $207,000.
- The Judicial Conduct Commission was appropriated a supplemental of $28,000 in FY 1996 to continue operations at their current levels until FY 1997.
- The State Auditor was appropriated $2,885,800 for FY 1997.
- The Treasurer was appropriated $26,000 for a surety bond required in an election year. The total budget appropriated by the Legislature for FY 1997 is $1,695,000.
- The Office of the Attorney General's appropriated budget for FY 1997 is $23,380,500.
- The Attorney General was appropriated $170,000 to set up a children's justice center in Davis County.
- An appropriation of $60,200 from the General Fund was made to fund the provisions of House Bill 222 - "Abortion Act Amendments."
- A negative appropriation of $91,100 was made from the Commerce Service Fund in FY 1997 to implement the provisions of Senate Bill 42 - "Motor Carrier Deregulation."
