Subject: Utah Business Coalition Educational Lunch Series

Dear Senator/Representative:

A number of you have attended one or both of this Interim’s Utah Business Coalition Educational Lunch Series.  The primary purpose of these monthly lunch meetings is to exchange pertinent information on common issues between Utah business representatives and Utah lawmakers.  The July lunch meeting was held at the Alta Club and focused on Medicaid Expansion.  The September topic was transportation infrastructure and funding held at the offices of the Association of General Contractors in Salt Lake City.

The Utah Business Coalition invites you to attend the next educational lunch meeting held Tuesday, October 14 at 11:30 located at HollyFrontier Refinery in West Bountiful – 1070 West 500 South.  Lunch will be served promptly at 11:30 followed by two brief presentations on Utah’s air quality challenges.  Jim Holtkamp, Holland & Hart law firm, will speak briefly to the complexities, challenges and impacts that refineries are faced with in meeting air quality standards and expectations.  A refinery manager will also address what industry is doing to meet the challenges.  After these two brief presentations, the balance of the time will be dialog and Q&A among Utah business representatives and you.  We all recognize Utah businesses play a key role in our air quality.  This lunch forum provides an opportunity for a broad spectrum of Utah business and industry representatives to convey our common interests and policies.

The Utah Business Coalition is comprised of a broad collection of Utah organizations and businesses.  See below for a complete list of Utah Business Coalition members.

Please respond to Susan Furner with your availability to attend next week’s lunch meeting no later than this Friday, October 10.  Susan can be reached at susan.furner@fbfs.com or 801-233-3040.

Thank you.
