Dear members of the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environmental Quality Appropriations Subcommittee.

I am a EPA/NRPP approved radon gas measurement and radon gas mitigation professional.  I am most often requested to perform radon gas testing for a majority of very educated, savvy home buyers moving into this state.  But most Utahns are very unaware of radon gas or the possibility that radon gas could be prevalent in their home.  Many of them have not heard of it or have been told it is just a myth.  Radon is a carcinogen that is known to cause lung cancer.

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality Indoor Radon Program helps educate Utahns about the dangers of radon.  For this reason I am asking you to please support the Utah Department of Environmental Quality’s building block request for $50,000 of ongoing funding for the Utah Indoor Radon Program.

If approved, the requested funding will allow the program to continue to exist.  If not, the program could either be discontinued or its services will be severely limited.

Thanks you for considering this request and keep up the good work,

Bob Hoaglin
