I am writing to ask you to please pass HB 342 POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
I'm writing to ask you to pass HB 342 POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
I ask you to please pass HB 342 by Representative Dana Layton. We need to have the power to create curriculum on a local level and that is what this bill will do. Utah needs to be able to create its own quality standards for education and not be beholding to outside special interest groups that use bribery Federally through Race to the Top to get us onto Common Core and that is what this bill will do. I believe Common Core is dangerous for our children. It isn't a complete set of math standards, it is not college or career ready. The ELA standards place undue emphasis on informational texts which doesn't help our children's love of learning.
