APPROPRIATION FOR UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY
PASTURE AND FORAGE INITIATIVE
1997 GENERAL SESSION

AN ACT RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; PROVIDING A $125,000
APPROPRIATION TO IMPLEMENT THE UTAH PASTURE AND FORAGE
INITIATIVE, A RESEARCH AND EDUCATION PROJECT DESIGNED TO ASSIST
LIVESTOCK PRODUCERS INCREASE THE EFFICIENCY OF PASTURE
UTILIZATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
This act enacts uncodified material.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
Section 1. Appropriation.
(1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1997-98, $125,000 to Utah
State University to be used by the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station as matching funds with
a federal grant for the implementation of the Utah Pasture and Forage Initiative, a research and
education project designed to assist livestock producers increase the efficiency of pasture
utilization.
(2) The university shall use the appropriation under the initiative for concurrent research
and education projects for grazing-based livestock production appropriate to the needs and
conditions faced by Utah producers.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act takes effect on July 1, 1997.
