6    AN ACT RELATING TO HEALTH; REQUIRING THAT HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS,
7    INCLUDING VOLUNTEERS, WEAR A BADGE IDENTIFYING THE TITLE OF THEIR
8    POSITION; AND GRANTING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH RULEMAKING
9    AUTHORITY TO IMPLEMENT THIS REQUIREMENT.
10    This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
11    ENACTS:
12         26-21-22, Utah Code Annotated 1953
13    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
14        Section 1. Section 26-21-22 is enacted to read:
15         26-21-22. Identification badges for health care workers.
16        (1) The following persons, while providing services at a health care facility, shall wear an
17    identification badge:
18        (a) all health care providers as defined in Section 26-33a-102;
19        (b) all other professional and nonprofessional employees who are not health care
20    providers; and
21        (c) all volunteers, including students.
22        (2) (a) The badge shall include the person's first name, and the title of the person's
23    employment or volunteer position at the facility. The title shall be in terms generally understood
24    by the public.
25        (b) If the person is providing health care services under the authority of a license granted
26    under Title 58, Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing Act, the classification of
27    licensure shall also be stated on the badge.


1        (3) The Department of Health may make rules as necessary to implement this section.
2        (4) Any person who knowingly prevents a health care worker from complying with this
3    section is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor.
