APPROPRIATION FOR UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY
2 PASTURE AND FORAGE INITIATIVE
3 1997 GENERAL SESSION

6 AN ACT RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; PROVIDING A $250,000
7 APPROPRIATION TO IMPLEMENT THE UTAH PASTURE AND FORAGE INITIATIVE,
8 A RESEARCH AND EDUCATION PROJECT DESIGNED TO ASSIST LIVESTOCK
9 PRODUCERS INCREASE THE EFFICIENCY OF PASTURE UTILIZATION; AND
10 PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
11 This act enacts uncodified material.
12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
13 Section 1. Appropriation.
14 (1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1997-98, $250,000 to Utah
15 State University to be used by the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station as matching funds with
16 a federal grant for the implementation of the Utah Pasture and Forage Initiative, a research and
17 education project designed to assist livestock producers increase the efficiency of pasture
18 utilization.
19 (2) The university shall use the appropriation under the initiative for concurrent research
20 and education projects for grazing-based livestock production appropriate to the needs and
21 conditions faced by Utah producers.
22 Section 2. Effective date.
23 This act takes effect on July 1, 1997.
