6    AN ACT RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; PROVIDING A h [ $1,000,000 ] 500,000 h
7    APPROPRIATION TO STRENGTHEN THE INTEGRATION OF ENGINEERING AND
8    PREENGINEERING PROGRAMS AT THE STATE'S NINE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER
9    EDUCATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
10    This act enacts uncodified material.
11    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
12        Section 1. Appropriation.
13        (1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1997-98 h [ $1,000,000 ]
13a     $500,000 h to the
14    State Board of Regents for a one-time appropriation to strengthen the statewide integration of
15    engineering and preengineering programs at the state's nine institutions of higher education.
16        (2) The board shall distribute the money as follows:
17        (a) h [$280,000 ] $140,000 h to the University of Utah;
18        (b) h [$190,000 ] $95,000 h to Utah State University;
19        (c) h [$130,000 ] $65,000 h to Weber State University;
20        (d) h [$100, 000 ] $50,000 h to Salt Lake Community College;
21        (e) h [$100, 000 ] $50,000 h to Utah Valley State College;
22        (f) h [$50,000 ] $25,000 h to College of Eastern Utah;
23        (g) h [$50,000 ] $25,000 h to Dixie College;
24        (h) h [$50,000 ] $25,000 h to Snow College; and
25        (i) h [$50,000 ] $25,000 h to Southern Utah University.
26        Section 2. Effective date.
27        This act takes effect on July 1, 1997.
