6    AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION; PROVIDING THAT THE BOARD OF
7    TRUSTEES AT THE SCHOOLS FOR THE DEAF AND THE BLIND MAKE ANNUAL
8    SALARY ADJUSTMENTS FOR EMPLOYEES AT THE SCHOOLS; PROVIDING
9    CRITERIA FOR THE ADJUSTMENTS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
10    This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
11    ENACTS:
12         53A-25-111, Utah Code Annotated 1953
13    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
14        Section 1. Section 53A-25-111 is enacted to read:
15         53A-25-111. Annual salary adjustments for school employees -- Benefits.
16        (1) (a) The board shall adjust the salary schedule applicable to nonadministrative
17    certificated staff at the school each school year.
18        (b) The board shall make the adjustment equal to the average adjustment for
19    nonadministrative certificated staff adopted by the public school districts of the state as determined
20    by the State Office of Education.
21        (2) (a) The adjustment shall be computed using adjustments made by the school districts
22    by December 1 of each year.
23        (b) The board shall apply the adjustment to the salary schedule effective July 1 of the
24    following year.
25        (3) The board shall make salary adjustments for administrative and noncertificated staff
26    at the school on the basis of adjustments approved for state government employees in similar
27    positions.


1        (4) Administrative, certificated, and noncertificated staff at the school shall receive the
2    same benefits as those provided to state government employees.
3        Section 2. Effective date.
4        This act takes effect on November 30, S [1999] 1998 s .
