5    AN ACT RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES; REQUIRING THE COLOR OF A VEHICLE
6    TO BE SHOWN ON THE VEHICLE REGISTRATION.
7    This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
8    AMENDS:
9         41-1a-209, as enacted by Chapter 1, Laws of Utah 1992
10         41-1a-213, as last amended by Chapter 184, Laws of Utah 1994
11    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
12        Section 1. Section 41-1a-209 is amended to read:
13         41-1a-209. Application for registration -- Contents.
14        (1) An owner of a vehicle subject to registration under this part shall apply to the division
15    for registration on forms furnished by the division.
16        (2) The application for registration shall include:
17        (a) the signature in ink of each owner of the vehicle to be registered;
18        (b) the name, bona fide residence and mailing address of the owner, or business address
19    of the owner if the owner is a firm, association, or corporation;
20        (c) a description of the vehicle including the make, model, type of body, the model year
21    as specified by the manufacturer, the number of cylinders, and the identification number of the
22    vehicle; and
23        (d) other information required by the division to enable it to determine whether the owner
24    is lawfully entitled to register the vehicle.
25        (3) Beginning S ON THE LATER DATE OF s January 1, 2000, S OR THE DATE THE
25a     COMMISSION'S NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SYSTEM BECOMES OPERATIONAL, s the application for
25b    original registration or registration
26    renewal shall also include the color of the vehicle as part of the description of the vehicle.

27        Section 2. Section 41-1a-213 is amended to read:


1         41-1a-213. Contents of registration cards.
2        (1) The registration card shall be delivered to the owner and shall contain:
3        (a) the date issued;
4        (b) the name and address of the owner;
5        (c) a description of the vehicle registered including the year, the make, the identification
6    number, and the license plate assigned to the vehicle;
7        (d) the expiration date; and
8        (e) other information as determined by the commission.
9        (2) S [Beginning January 1, 2000, the] THE s information the commission receives
9a    pursuant to
10    Subsection 41-1a-209(3) shall be included on the registration card.
11        [(2)] (3) If a vehicle is leased for a period in excess of 30 days, the registration shall
12    contain:
13        (a) the owner's name;
14        (b) the name of the lessee; and
15        (c) the bona fide residence address of the lessee.
16        [(3)] (4) On all vehicles registered under Subsections 41-1a-1206(1)(d) and (1)(e), the
17    registration card shall also contain the gross laden weight as given in the application for
18    registration.
