5 AN ACT RELATING TO RETIREMENT; PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN RETIREMENT
6 SERVICE CREDIT TRANSFERS BETWEEN RETIREMENT SYSTEMS FOR YOUTH
7 CORRECTIONS EMPLOYEES.
8 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
9 ENACTS:
10 49-4a-207, Utah Code Annotated 1953
11 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
12 Section 1. Section 49-4a-207 is enacted to read:
13 49-4a-207. Service credit conversion -- Youth corrections employees.
14 (1) A youth corrections employee with current employment in that position as of January
15 1, 1998 may h APPLY TO h elect to transfer the employee's retirement service credits from any other
15a system under
16 this title to the system under this chapter if:
17 (a) the service credits were earned between January, 1, 1985 and June 30, 1998 while the
18 employee was a youth corrections employee;
19 (b) the employee applies to the retirement office, in writing, by June 30, 1998, for the
20 transfer of the service credits; and
21 (c) the employee is certified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council by
22 September 30, 1998.
23 (2) (a) The actual costs of the transfers described in this section shall be presented by the
24 board to the Legislature prior to its 1999 General Session.

25a 1999 GENERAL SESSION, THE h transfers described in this section shall be effective on July 1, 1999.
25b h (ii) IF THE LEGISLATURE DOES NOT FUND THE ACTUAL COSTS OF THE TRANSFERS IN
25c THE 1999 GENERAL SESSION, THE TRANSFERS DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION MAY NOT BECOME
