9 AN ACT RELATING TO INSURANCE; REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
10 CONDUCT AN ACTUARIAL STUDY ON THE COVERAGE OF PRESCRIPTION
11 CONTRACEPTIVE METHODS.
12 This act enacts uncodified material.
13 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
14 Section 1. Actuarial study of prescriptive contraceptive methods.
15 (1) The Bureau of Health Data Analysis within the Department of Health shall conduct
16 an actuarial study of Medicaid and the Public Employees' Health Program to determine the cost
17 of and savings realized by covering federal Food and Drug Administration-approved prescriptive
18 contraceptive methods.
19 (2) The study shall be completed by July 1, 1999, and the results shall be reported before
20 November 31, 1999 to:
21 (a) the Health and Human Services Interim Committee and Business, Labor, and
22 Economic Development Interim Committee of the Legislature; and
23 (b) the Health Policy Commission.
24 (3) It is the intent of the Legislature that the Public Employees' Health Program maintain
25 coverage consistent with Subsection (1) for the duration of the study.
