First Substitute H.B. 106

Representative Jeff Alexander proposes to substitute the following bill:

1 TRUANCY PREVENTION APPROPRIATION
2 1998 GENERAL SESSION
3 STATE OF UTAH
4 Sponsor: Jeff Alexander
5 AN ACT RELATING TO APPROPRIATIONS; APPROPRIATING $100,000 FROM THE
6 UNIFORM SCHOOL FUND TO THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR GRANTS TO
7 DISTRICTS TO ESTABLISH A TRUANCY SUPPORT CENTER; AND PROVIDING AN
8 EFFECTIVE DATE.
9 This act enacts uncodified material.
10 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
11 Section 1. Appropriation.
12 There is appropriated $100,000 from the Uniform School Fund for fiscal year 1998-99 to
13 the State Board of Education to provide grants to school districts to provide and staff truancy
14 support centers as created in accordance with Section 53A-11-106. It is the intent of the
15 Legislature that this appropriation be ongoing.
16 Section 2. Effective date.
17 This act takes effect on July 1, 1998.
