7 AN ACT RELATING TO APPROPRIATIONS; APPROPRIATING $250,000 TO THE OFFICE
8 OF PLANNING AND BUDGET FROM THE GENERAL FUND IN FISCAL YEAR 1998-99
9 FOR LEGAL COSTS INCURRED BY THE UTAH ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES TO
10 OPPOSE THE GRAND STAIRCASE - ESCALANTE NATIONAL MONUMENT
11 DESIGNATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
12 This act enacts uncodified material.
13 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
14 Section 1. Appropriation.
15 (1) Because the land and resources contained within the Grand Staircase - Escalante
16 National Monument are valuable to the people of the state, there is appropriated $250,000 to the
17 Office of Planning and Budget from the General Fund in fiscal year 1998-99, to be disbursed to
18 the Utah Association of Counties to be used to pay legal costs incurred by the Utah Association
19 of Counties to oppose the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument designation.
20 (2) The money appropriated in Subsection (1) is nonlapsing.
21 Section 2. Effective date.
22 This act takes effect on July 1, 1998.
