APPROPRIATION FOR ENGINEERING AND
2 PREENGINEERING PROGRAM

7 APPROPRIATION TO STRENGTHEN THE STATEWIDE INTEGRATION OF
8 ENGINEERING AND PREENGINEERING PROGRAMS AT THE STATE'S NINE
9 INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
10 This act enacts uncodified material.
11 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
12 Section 1. Appropriation.
13 (1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1998-99, h [ $1,000,000 ]
13a $720,000 h to the
14 State Board of Regents to strengthen the statewide integration of engineering and preengineering
15 education programs at the state's nine institutions of higher education.
16 (2) h [ One-half ] $320,000 h of the appropriation is for base-budget funding of the programs
16a and h [ one-half ] $400,000 h
17 of the appropriation is one-time funding to be distributed to the institutions on that basis.
18 (3) The board shall distribute:
19 (a) h [ $280,000 ] $89,600 FOR BASE-BUDGET FUNDING AND $112,000 IN ONE-TIME MONEYS h
19a to the University of Utah;
20 (b) h [ $190,000 ] $60,800 FOR BASE-BUDGET FUNDING AND $76,000 IN ONE-TIME MONEYS h to
20a Utah State University;
21 (c) h [ $130,000 ] $41,600 FOR BASE-BUDGET FUNDING AND $52,000 IN ONE-TIME MONEYS h to
21a Weber State University;

22 (d) h [ $100,000 ] $32,000 FOR BASE-BUDGET FUNDING AND $40,000 IN ONE-TIME MONEYS h to
22a Salt Lake Community College;
23 (e) h [ $100,000 ] $32,000 FOR BASE-BUDGET FUNDING AND $40,000 IN ONE-TIME MONEYS h to
23a Utah Valley State College;
24 (f) h [ $50,000 ] $16,000 FOR BASE-BUDGET FUNDING AND $20,000 IN ONE-TIME MONEYS h to
24a the College of Eastern Utah;
25 (g) h [ $50,000 ] $16,000 FOR BASE-BUDGET FUNDING AND $20,000 IN ONE-TIME MONEYS h to
25a Dixie College;
