    AN ACT RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES; AMENDING CERTAIN PARKING
    RESTRICTIONS; AND MAKING TECHNICAL CORRECTIONS.
    This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
    AMENDS:
         41-6-103, as enacted by Chapter 33, Laws of Utah 1978
    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
        Section 1. Section 41-6-103 is amended to read:
         41-6-103. Standing or parking vehicles -- Restrictions and exceptions.
        (1) Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with law
    [or], the directions of a police officer, or an official traffic-control device, [no] a person [shall] may
    not:
        [(1)] (a) stop, stand, or park a vehicle:
        [(a)] (i) on the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb of a
    street;
        [(b)] (ii) on a sidewalk;
        [(c)] (iii) within an intersection;
        [(d)] (iv) on a crosswalk;
        [(e)] (v) between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within 30 feet of points on the curb
    immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless a different length is indicated by signs or
    markings;
        [(f)] (vi) alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when stopping,
    standing, or parking would obstruct traffic;
        [(g)] (vii) upon any bridge or other elevated structure, upon a highway, or within a
    highway tunnel;
        [(h)] (viii) on any railroad tracks;


        [(i)] (ix) on any controlled-access highway;
        [(j)] (x) in the area between roadways of a divided highway, including crossovers; or
        [(k)] (xi) any place where official traffic-control devices prohibit stopping[.], standing, or
    parking; or
        [(2)] (b) stand or park a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except momentarily to pick up or
    discharge a passenger or passengers:
        [(a)] (i) in front of a public or private driveway;
        [(b)] (ii) within 15 feet of a fire hydrant;
        [(c)] (iii) within 20 feet of a crosswalk [at an intersection];
        [(d)] (iv) within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop sign, yield sign, or
    traffic-control signal located at the side of a roadway;
        [(e)] (v) within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station and on the side of a street
    opposite the entrance to any fire station within 75 feet of [said] the entrance when properly
    signposted; or
        [(f)] (vi) at any place where official traffic-control devices prohibit standing[.]; or
        [(3)] (c) park a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except temporarily for the purpose of and
    while actually engaged in loading or unloading property or passengers:
        [(a)] (i) within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing; or
        [(b)] (ii) at any place where official traffic-control devices prohibit parking.
        [(4) No] (2) A person [shall] may not move a vehicle that is not lawfully under [such] the
    person's control into any prohibited area or into an unlawful distance from the curb.
