AN ACT RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; PROVIDING A $720,000
APPROPRIATION TO STRENGTHEN THE STATEWIDE INTEGRATION OF
ENGINEERING AND PREENGINEERING PROGRAMS AT THE STATE'S NINE
INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
This act enacts uncodified material.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
Section 1. Appropriation.
(1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1998-99, $720,000 to the
State Board of Regents to strengthen the statewide integration of engineering and preengineering
education programs at the state's nine institutions of higher education.
(2) $320,000 of the appropriation is for base-budget funding of the programs and $400,000
of the appropriation is one-time funding to be distributed to the institutions on that basis.
(3) The board shall distribute:
(a) $89,600 for base-budget funding and $112,000 in one-time moneys to the University
of Utah;
(b) $60,800 for base-budget funding and $76,000 in one-time moneys to Utah State
University;
(c) $41,600 for base-budget funding and $52,000 in one-time moneys to Weber State
University;
(d) $32,000 for base-budget funding and $40,000 in one-time moneys to Salt Lake
Community College;
(e) $32,000 for base-budget funding and $40,000 in one-time moneys to Utah Valley State
College;
(f) $16,000 for base-budget funding and $20,000 in one-time moneys to the College of
Eastern Utah;
(g) $16,000 for base-budget funding and $20,000 in one-time moneys to Dixie College;
(h) $16,000 for base-budget funding and $20,000 in one-time moneys to Snow College; and
(i) $16,000 for base-budget funding and $20,000 in one-time moneys to Southern Utah
University.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act takes effect on July 1, 1998.
