BOW HUNTER CERTIFICATION

5 AN ACT RELATING TO FISH AND GAME; REQUIRING THAT THE DIVISION OF
6 WILDLIFE RESOURCES ESTABLISH SPECIFIC CRITERIA FOR A BOW HUNTER
7 EDUCATION COURSE; PROVIDING GENERAL CRITERIA FOR A BOW HUNTER
8 EDUCATION COURSE; AND PROVIDING FOR STATE CERTIFICATION FOR
9 PARTICIPANTS IN A BOW HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE.
10 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
11 ENACTS:
12 23-19-12.7, Utah Code Annotated 1953
13 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
14 Section 1. Section 23-19-12.7 is enacted to read:
15 23-19-12.7. Instruction in bow hunter education -- Issuance of certificate of
16 completion.
17 (1) The division shall establish criteria for a bow hunter education course, which may be
18 offered by any entity that meets the division's criteria.
19 (2) The bow hunter education course shall include instruction in:
20 (a) the safe use of bow hunting equipment;
21 (b) fundamentals of bow hunting;
22 (c) shooting and hunting techniques; and
23 (d) hunter ethics.
24 (3) The division shall issue a certificate of completion to a participant upon successful
25 completion of a bow hunter education course which meets the requirements of this section and
26 criteria established by the division.
