5 AN ACT RELATING TO THE JUDICIAL CODE; ADDING ONE DISTRICT COURT JUDGE
6 TO THE THIRD JUDICIAL DISTRICT AND ONE JUVENILE COURT JUDGE TO THE
7 SECOND JUDICIAL DISTRICT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
8 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
9 AMENDS:
10 78-1-2.2, as last amended by Chapter 343, Laws of Utah 1997
11 78-1-2.3, as last amended by Chapters 198 and 329, Laws of Utah 1996
12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
13 Section 1. Section 78-1-2.2 is amended to read:
14 78-1-2.2. Number of district judges.
15 The number of district court judges shall be not more than:
16 (1) four district judges in the First District;
17 (2) 13 district judges in the Second District;
18 (3) [
19 (4) 12 district judges in the Fourth District;
20 (5) four district judges in the Fifth District;
21 (6) two district judges in the Sixth District;
22 (7) three district judges in the Seventh District; and
23 (8) two district judges in the Eighth District.
24 Section 2. Section 78-1-2.3 is amended to read:
25 78-1-2.3. Number of juvenile judges and jurisdictions.
26 The number of juvenile court judges shall be:
27 (1) one juvenile judge in the First Juvenile District;
1 (2) [
2 (3) eight juvenile judges in the Third Juvenile District;
3 (4) four juvenile judges in the Fourth Juvenile District;
4 (5) two juvenile judges in the Fifth Juvenile District;
5 (6) one juvenile judge in the Sixth Juvenile District;
6 (7) one juvenile judge in the Seventh Juvenile District; and
7 (8) one juvenile judge in the Eighth Juvenile District.
8 Section 3. Effective date.
9 This act takes effect on July 1, 1998.
